![]() I'm fuzzy on the next steps, but I believe that (a) two hot wires connect at location T1 and T2 on the ATS and that those hots connect to the two hots that were connected to my current 200 Amp service breaker, (b) a neutral wire connected to the slanted, larger neutral bar on the ATS connects to the neutral inside my panel that is running to the house, and (c) a ground connected to the horizontal ground bar on the ATS connects to the ground inside my panel that is running to the house. This wiring would bypass my current 200 Amp service breaker which I no longer need because my ATS has become my 200 Amp service breaker. The two hot wires would connect at the N1 and N2 locations on the ATS, and I think the neutral grounded wire would connect at the slanted, larger neutral bar on the ATS. Īs I understand it, the 3 wire service entrance conductors consist of two hot wires and a neutral grounded wire. If you don't want to indulge me, I understand completely. I'd also like to get the site set up for the electrician e.g., doing the appropriate cutouts and installing correct sized liquid tight connectors to the extent that I can do so safely. I'm not going to do anything that is prohibited by the NEC. No maybe about it, I will definitely get an electrician involved I'm just trying to understand the mechanics because I would like to know. Are there three wires running from the meter area (two power wires and one ground) which connect at the N1 and N2 location (the utility service disconnect circuit breaker terminals) and the ground bar on the ATS, respectively? Are there two wires running from the T1 and T2 location on the ATS (the subpanel supply terminals) back to the meter area? I'm guessing that the connection to and from the ATS are made underneath this breaker. I have a 200 AMP breaker under the meter. What I'm particularly interested in learning is the wiring between the meter area and and the ATS. So, I'm guessing that the neutral wire from the generator is connected to the neutral bar on the ATS, and the ground wire from the generator is connected to the ground bar on the ATS. This is purely for educational purposes, and I think I could guess correctly, but I'm wondering about a more detailed wiring diagram for the ATS.įirst, I'm guessing that the horizontal bar near the top of the ATS is the neutral bar, and that the slightly askew bar below it (connected by the jumper wire to the horizontal bar above it) is the ground bar. But then there are the neutral and the ground wires from the generator and the wires from the meter. ![]() The six control wires are simple enough as they have identical labeled locations on the ATS. The manual for the ATS (RXEMW200A3), not so much. The manual for the generator contains a detailed wiring diagram.
